They tried so hard to celebrate the fact that Pete Buttigieg was the first openly gay member of a presidential cabinet … another stunning first from the Biden administration. The only problem is that it wasn’t a fact — they twisted and turned and grasped, but in the end, had to admit that Richard Grenell was the first openly gay member of a presidential cabinet. Here’s NBC News’ deleted tweet and correction:
Correction: Buttigieg is first openly gay person to be confirmed as a Cabinet secretary.
Under Pres. Trump, Richard Grenell served as acting director of national intelligence and is openly gay, but did not face confirmation as an acting director.

I remember when Donald Trump appointed the first gay Senate confirmed cabinet member and somehow the media seemed to never know yet we hear about Pete's sexuality constantly. If he wants to be known by his private life, Pete deserves to have it discussed.
