We’re not a gaming site, but there’s been a lot of hand-wringing over the new “Harry Potter” video game, “Hogwarts Legacy.” Last month, Brianna Wu said that it wasn’t a game but rather “a character test” that a lot of people were about to fail. IGN gave the game a 9 out of 10 but added a disclaimer, saying “whether it’s ethical to play is a separate but still very important question.”
Blue-check cis person Lauren Ingram won’t be buying a copy of the game, just so you know.
Ultimately as a cis person it’s not up to me to decide if Hogwarts: Legacy is transphobic. The trans people in my life, and online, have told me it is. So I won’t be buying it.

By buying the game you are supporting its transphobic creator, and encouraging her to continue her horrific crusade against trans people. She has literally tweeted as such.

If you support trans rights, and are thinking about purchasing the Hogwarts: Legacy game, consider this:
Will it directly harm you to not play this game? Because it will directly contribute to continuing harm of trans people if you do.

“It will directly contribute to continuing harm of trans people.”
I've asked many times what exactly JK Rowling has ever said that was "transphobic" and I've never received an answer.

Is this parody, no one could be this thick

Thank you! As a trans individual I’m tired of being used as a pawn in this boycott. I myself intend to play the game.

Thank you for confirming that you subcontract your morality out to a priest caste.

I can’t roll my eyes enough at y’all.

Cis-personified.

Yeah, I pay for the things I like, just like how I bought this game and I’m enjoying it because it’s fun. See the pattern? Have a good one.

I see, you’re doing the “if I attack JK Rowling I’ll get kudos from the TRAs and anyone who asks me for evidence of anything she said that’s transphobic will be accused of attacking me and I’ll get even more support from the TRAs” type of attention seeking. How’s it going so far?

Didn’t know I needed permission to play video games

Aww you learned your place. Well done you faithful ally!
Being told what to think and accepting it isn't as brave as you might pretend. Why can't you think for yourself?
— Jac (@JacMay19) February 7, 2023
The game is great. There’s a trans bartender in the game too.

Your desire to have someone else make decisions to you could be better satisfied by finding a strong male provider.

It must suck not to be able to enjoy things.
— Amber Collins (Commissions Always Open) (@1ambercollins) February 8, 2023
As long as you tell the world about not buying it, that's the main thing

Exactly.
