It really never fails. Anytime a prominent person on Twitter tweets about the greatness of public schools and rejects school choice and vouchers, it always turns out either they or their children attended a private school. Education blogger Diane Ravitch says that the best choice is your local public school — it’s the glue of democracy after all. We’ve heard that before: A few years back, a Harvard professor wrote a piece called “The Risks of Homeschooling” and called for a “presumptive ban” of the practice; after all, homeschooling not only violates a child’s right to a “meaningful education” but may also “keep them from contributing positively to a democratic society.” So, indoctrination.
The best choice is your local public school. It welcomes everyone. It unifies community. It is the glue of democracy.

Why didn’t you send your sons to your local public school? You didn’t want the best for them? So you paid for private school in NYC? Make it make sense. pic.twitter.com/hXOhfZTwQh

I paid for it. I didn’t ask taxpayers to pay for my private choice.

Oh, so it was her private choice to send her kids to a private school. But your best choice is your local public school.
So what about parents who can't afford to pay for private school but want to make the best choice for their kids? They don't deserve the same opportunities as your sons?

Diane would prefer the poors be kept far from her children. Unless, of course, they’re the driver, maid, nanny, etc

YOU paid for it, because you didn't want your kids trapped in garbage public schools.
If you get your way, poor kids will forever be trapped in garbage public schools.
— J.G. Petruna (@jgpetruna) January 31, 2023
Payment isn't the issue.
— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) January 31, 2023
Where does she think the money to run public schools comes from?
But you said the best choice is public school. So why would you pay for something that’s not the best choice?
— Sunny McSunnyface (@sunnyright) January 31, 2023
Just admit that you’re a hypocrite.

Why not give every kid that choice?
— (((Road Bear Life))) (@bearshrugged) January 31, 2023
Because then her sons would have to go to school with kids whose families are poor. Can't have that.
— Christina Pushaw 🐊 🇺🇸 (@ChristinaPushaw) January 31, 2023
But that’s now what your tweet was about. You said they’re the best choice, unify the cosmos, and unicorns fly out of everyone’s ass who goes there. Send your kids to your local one then or be quiet.

I didn't ask government to take my money to pay for failing schools but here we are.

So public school is not the best choice
— Dave Linn (@DavidRLinn) January 31, 2023
In before you limit comments on this asinine hypocrisy of a tweet.
— Andy Stevens 🇺🇸 (@mrandystevens) January 31, 2023
You had the ability to keep your kid out of “the best choice” and did it, because you know you’re full of it.
— schmeez (@schmeez_) January 31, 2023
No one is asking taxpayers to cover the cost. They are asking for their allotted tax dollars to follow their child. I guess you don’t think very highly of anyone outside of your tax bracket.

Dalton? Where the teachers demanded the hiring of 12 full-time diversity officers and required courses on “black liberation”?
Then why'd you send your kids to private school?
— Christopher F. Rufo ⚔️ (@realchrisrufo) January 29, 2023
Diane, did you really send your own kids to private school? You can’t make this stuff up! @realchrisrufo @DeAngelisCorey
— Tiffany Justice (@4TiffanyJustice) January 29, 2023
yes. "school choice for me but not for thee!"
— Corey A. DeAngelis, school choice evangelist (@DeAngelisCorey) January 29, 2023
They always send their kids to private schools. Always.
