Wait, we’ve been assured that more guns are not the answer. And the myth of the “good guy with a gun” is just that — a myth.
A new Illinois bill, though, called the Armed Security Protection Act, would require banks, gas stations, pawn shops, and grocery stores in municipalities with more than 2 million inhabitants (i.e., Chicago) to have at least one armed security guard on deck during business hours.

Note that “armed guards” are defined in the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004. So, one of those.
But definitely not schools!

The thought of schools having armed guards is just … ridiculous. At least we’ve been told.
But, I thought "guns make people less safe?"
— Kyle Peterson (@KyleP762) January 26, 2023
This is after they try to ban all semi-autos! 🤣🤣🤣
— Bryan Horsey (@bryanhorsey) January 26, 2023
But they are also banning all the good weapons so what are the guards going to carry? 🤷🏼♂️

What about “magazine-fed assault pistols”?
More guns on the street? I'm thinking based

Sounds expensive

Does the Illinois legislature think Chicago has a crime problem? Is that what they’re saying?
So they're admitting to having a problem.
That's the first step in getting sober.
— dalong54 (@dalong67) January 26, 2023
It shouldn’t be required but in areas like Chicago, it’s prudent to have an armed employee or two on hand if your business deals with the public in person.
— regular guy (@regularguyguns) January 26, 2023
Why do these business owners pay taxes again?
— Diego Vega (@diegovegany) January 26, 2023
Another way of you paying for it. All while eliminating your own personal protection. ILLINOIS SUCKS
— GTZ (@justmeandsarge) January 26, 2023
i guess they can lay off a few people so they can afford to comply, or maybe just move out of those areas.

Or you can stop taking away guns from law abiding citizens
— SAnonPatriot (@Soldy35) January 26, 2023
We remember when President Trump wanted to send in the National Guard to get crime under control in Chicago and Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she wouldn’t have his stormtroopers terrorizing her citizens.
Lightfoot certainly has enough armed guards in her personal security detail — just ask any Chicagoan who pays taxes about the overtime those guys get. Has she weighed in on this legislation yet?
