As “60 Minutes” reported, members of the Congressional Freedom Caucus “embarrassed not only a party, but an entire nation” by refusing to cave and vote for Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House — at least not without some concessions. They were called terrorists by members of their own party for holding out, and you don’t give in to terrorists.
It took 15 ballots, but the Republican majority and the Freedom Caucus finally saw eye-to-eye and elected McCarthy Speaker. Done deal.
Nikki Fried, former Florida agriculture commissioner and gubernatorial candidate, wanted to remind everyone that one of the founding members of the Freedom Caucus was Gov. Ron DeSantis.
