As Twitchy has reported, even the John Fetterman campaign has been working to lower expectations for Fetterman going into his first and only debate with Dr. Mehmet Oz. Both campaigns agreed that the debate would be close captioned to accommodate Fetterman’s lingering symptoms from his stroke. His campaign has said that Oz would use the debate to catch him mushing a couple of words together, and Fetterman didn’t disappoint.
Fetterman opens the debate:

A debate is a tall order for Fetterman. Asked "Has the Biden administration overspent?" Fetterman talked about a random selection of other topics and never addressed, and/or seem to forgot, the question. However, it's unclear as to whether that hurts him.https://t.co/cpsVUBhVGZ

Q: "Has the Biden administration overspent?"
Fetterman: “Here’s what I think we have to fight about inflation here right now.”

Honestly, I never thought it would be this bad.

This is not "mushing a couple of words together"
— Stephen L. Miller (@redsteeze) October 26, 2022
The Pennsylvania Senate debate just began & it’s abundantly clear why Fetterman has been running away from debates.
He’s not making sense & sounds robotic, while Dr. Oz is articulate, sharing personal stories from the campaign trail, & is crushing him on policy.#PASenateDebate
— #ThePersistence (@ScottPresler) October 26, 2022
Man alive, this Oz-Fetterman debate.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 26, 2022
This is so bad. It's just so so so bad. No big deal, it's just the Senate.
— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) October 26, 2022

They should stop this PA senate debate. We’ve seen enough. Shame on the Dems for trying to hide this from voters. Now it’s just painful to watch.
— GregGutfeld (@greggutfeld) October 26, 2022
Moderator: "You say that you will hold big corporations accountable for what you call price gouging. How will you do that?"
Fetterman: "Exactly. Dr. Oz has never seen an oil company he wouldn't swipe right on."
This is just sad.
— Jacob Walters (@Jacob_Walters39) October 26, 2022
Oz: "Fetterman didn't pay for his own house. He got it for a dollar from his sister."
Fetterman: "He got his Pennsylvania house from his own in ladies for $1. That's typical." pic.twitter.com/Es1jlhX5kB
— Greg Price (@greg_price11) October 26, 2022
Seriously, now we all know why Fetterman ducked all these debates.
Holy shit.
Guys.
He's not fit.
— Matt Cover (@MattCover) October 26, 2022
FETTERMAN: "How can a man, you know, with with 10 gigantic mansion has am willing to talk about willing wage for anybody? Imagine a signal mom trying with two children trying to raise with them." pic.twitter.com/hbqePfo8Of
— Townhall.com (@townhallcom) October 26, 2022
What?
[Oz has] said you have not paid your taxes … how do you respond?"
Fetterman: "It was helping two students 17 years ago to help them buy their own homes. They for and didn’t pay the bills and got are paid and it has never been an issue in any of the campaign before." pic.twitter.com/hv5M4YWc0a

Oz should defer all his time to Fetterman. The more Fetterman speaks, the worse.
— Rich Weinstein (@phillyrich1) October 26, 2022
Pressed on whether he’d release his medical records, Fetterman danced around the question. That was a no.

Ugh. This is tough to even watch. I can't imagine someone hating PA so much they'd vote for him.
— Unapologetic Ultra MAGA (@AmericanGal2021) October 26, 2022
I really hope Fetterman’s voters watch this. It’s sad.
— Speed O. Science (@RMcMayoMonkey) October 26, 2022
"He has no work restrictions" Says the captioning monitor behind the moderator that he needs to read in order to be able to speak.
— Stephen L. Miller (@redsteeze) October 26, 2022
Putting aside that I think Fetterman has terrible views and would have made a really bad Senator anyways, it’s obvious that he’s not capable of doing the job. If the plan is to just replace him right away if he wins, Dems should be honest about that with voters. https://t.co/fIaqswBOTk
— AG (@AGHamilton29) October 26, 2022
I’ve honestly never seen anything like this. The partisanship required to vote for Fetterman at this point should be studied in a lab.

That is….not an accurate representation of what he said https://t.co/VxIQm6kPTz
— Sunny McSunnyface (@sunnyright) October 26, 2022
#PAsen debate moderator just let Fetterman walk away with not answering why he won’t release his full medical records.
— Spencer Brown (@itsSpencerBrown) October 26, 2022
Wow – despite being pressed multiple times Fetterman refuses to commit to releasing the medical records about his stroke and cognitive challenges.
It’s not just that he’s clearly not up to the job, it’s that he’s still trying to cover it up. #PASenateDebate
— Matt Whitlock (@mattdizwhitlock) October 26, 2022
Moderator asks why Fetterman hasn’t released his medical records. After Fetterman filibusters on the answer by saying because he showed up for the debate and does speeches in front of 3000 people. Moderator follows and asks why Fetterman won’t answer the question. Key moment.

Is the entire Congress going to need to adapt to this one Senator's cognitive impairment?

Wow, did Fetterman ever look horrible when asked about his flip-flop on fracking:
Fetterman: "I never supported that… that thing" he says, after searching for a word
wow
— Jennifer Van Laar (@jenvanlaar) October 26, 2022
That fracking answer. Yikes.
— Stephen L. Miller (@redsteeze) October 26, 2022
Fetterman: “I don’t support fracking at all.”
Fetterman: “I’ve always supported fracking.”
Also Fetterman: “I do support fracking and I don’t support fracking. And I do support fracking and I don’t.”
Literally just said this.
— Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) October 26, 2022
Well, now we know why Fetterman's campaign kept him hidden for months. #PASenateDebate
— Mike LaChance (@MikeLaChance33) October 26, 2022
Unbelievably, moments after being read his own quote saying "I don't support fracking at all," John Fetterman says "I've always supported fracking." pic.twitter.com/OglPqOuKAd
— Townhall.com (@townhallcom) October 26, 2022
Fetterman just melts down after a long pause when confronted about his flip flopping on fracking. pic.twitter.com/ceGtuNt61J
— Julio Rosas (@Julio_Rosas11) October 26, 2022
We’re only halfway in, but we’ll keep rolling on this trainwreck.
Good point:
Note the journalists who fix Fetterman's quotes without noting they are fixing them.
— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) October 26, 2022
My God, Fetterman's wife wants to be a senator so badly she's forcing her husband to go through this
— Comfortably Smug (@ComfortablySmug) October 26, 2022
Let’s be honest, Mrs. Fetterman can’t truly love her husband. Nothing in life is worth this
— LB (@beyondreasdoubt) October 26, 2022
Oz basically just needs to let Fetterman speak. Wow.
— Fuzzy Chimp 🇺🇸 (@fuzzychimpcom) October 26, 2022
My gosh this is just horrible.
— Matt Whitlock (@mattdizwhitlock) October 26, 2022
This is just horrible; Fetterman freezes up again when asked if he disagrees with any of President Biden’s policies:
Moderator: "Are there any of Biden's policy positions that you disagree with."
*seven Mississippi pause* pic.twitter.com/uAf1iPMcoC
— Greg Price (@greg_price11) October 26, 2022
We’ve reported over the last couple of days about the media working with disability activists to make Fetterman sound like he’s disabled without saying he’s disabled. The Democrats have made his stroke a selling point … vote for the poor guy, he’s struggling.
John Fetterman's opening statement during his debate with Mehmet Oz: "Let's also talk about the elephant in the room. I had a stroke. He never let me forget that." pic.twitter.com/RgHWf5i4qo
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) October 26, 2022
The people who wheeled Fetterman out on stage should feel ashamed. It's basically a set up designed to hope Oz hits him too hard for a sympathy play.

Flashback:
Sorry to say but I talked to @JohnFetterman for over an hour without stop or any aides and this is just nonsense. Maybe this reporter is just bad at small talk. https://t.co/CX9B7qWUaS
