Jen Psaki says Republicans are 'at war with Mickey Mouse' and 'out of whack with the mainstream'

If we could have asked a follow-up question of press secretary Jen Psaki, it would have been, “What does your administration consider to be the mainstream values of the country?” According to Psaki, Republicans should be quaking in their boots as the midterms approach, as their platform is so out of whack with the mainstream. Republicans are “at war with Mickey Mouse,” for goodness sake, and they don’t believe in late-term or especially full-term abortion, no questions asked. The “mainstream” must be represented by people like Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Gov. Gavin Newsom. We notice she didn’t mention that Republicans are also at war with the administration over securing the border — another policy that’s out of whack with your average American.

You already know it, but we’ll say it again. Florida’s legislature came up with a bill banning teachers in kindergarten through third grade from leading class discussions around sexual orientation and gender identity, which is not at all out of whack with the mainstream when you put it in those words. Disney chose to get involved in that “war” when it didn’t have to, apologizing for not speaking out against the Parental Rights in Education bill earlier than it did.

… and winning, if we may point to the Virginia gubernatorial race. It turns out parents think they should have a say in what their children are taught in government schools.

So if the Biden administration’s values are so in touch with the mainstream, why is President Biden’s approval number so low? He’s fighting some imaginary battle about banning LGBTQ kids from classrooms when he should be fighting inflation.
