This is pretty rich: A columnist who writes for China Daily is concerned about the suppression of free speech. There’s really no word for that level of irony, but that’s his story, and he’s sticking to it. Chen Weihua replied to Elon Musk — who must be having a ball with the replies to his tweets — saying that his “China state-affiliated media” label should be removed, because it’s “totally discriminatory” and intimidates those who’d like to retweet him.
Elon Musk should remove my label. Also, when people want to like or RT my tweets, they are now reminded by Twitter that “this is state affiliated media”. This is totally discriminatory and suppression of free speech. Twitter must change such policy.

Such practice amounts to an intimidation to people who would like to RT or like my tweets.

No, it's not. People should be aware that your publication is owned by, and thus affiliated with, the state (in this case, the PRC). It's not discrimination to highlight that, as it's different than most publications. How is your speech being surpressed? I can read your links np.

Someone please screenshot this plea of Mr Chen and post it to Weibo? I am sure many Chinese netizens would agree with Mr Chen (if they are lucky enough to get a glimpse of Mr Chen's plea), and perhaps come to his aid to amplify his voice😂

Stop whining about it. It’s important that people know they are dealing with Chinese state media.

It’s almost as if you don’t want people to know where you come from so you can hide something

Oh you mean the people in China who might want t….
Oh, wait. About that…

Twitter has banned the previous president of the United States completely, but this clown is upset about being labeled state-affiliated media.
Tell me again why you're on Twitter when China bans Twitter?
— Joey (for #DCstatehood) (@JoeySchmittPhD) April 30, 2022
You ARE state affiliated media. Don’t worry, one day the world won’t have to worry about Chinese oppression 😉

Lol @ state actors with a platform crying about free speech. HINT: Nobody cares about your whining and misinformation attempts

It’s important to have Chinese officials telling Elon Musk how freedom of speech works.
