WaPo opinion columnist gives a heads up that right-wing sites are referring to 'Don't Say Gay' as the 'Anti-Groomer Bill'

It’s pretty adorable that Washington Post opinion columnist Paul Waldman is triggered that some “right-wing sites” are referring to the Parental Rights in Education law as the “Anti-Groomer Bill” when he himself misnamed the legislation as “Don’t Say Gay.” Hey Waldman, here’s a headline for you … “On left-wing sites, the Parental Rights in Education bill is now universally referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. On its way into the mainstream.” And by left-wing sites, we mean the Washington Post.

Waldman seems triggered by a piece by Rod Dreher in The American Conservative and by the belief that the word groomer refers exclusively to gay adults who are trying to shape the sexuality of young children, so “groomer” is homophobic. Never mind the trans teacher who showed off their “Making your kids queer since 2020” needlepoint on Facebook. Sorry, but our definition of groomer isn’t limited to gays, so we don’t feel a damn bit of shame about referring to Florida’s “anti-groomer” legislation.

Dreher writes:

This is the alleged “don’t say gay” part:

Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.

That’s it. Don’t teach kids aged five through nine about sexual orientation or gender identity, except within defined standards. This is because in many schools, little kids were being exposed to all kinds of information that their parents believe they aren’t ready for.

This is common sense legislation that protects children and the rights of parents. If you ever wondered whether or not the Walt Disney Company was on the side of parents and families, wonder no more: they aren’t. They are Woke Capitalists. More cynically, they know they have more to fear from angry LGBT employees, allies, and their many allies in the media than they do from America’s parents and families, who are going to keep consuming Disney products no matter what.

We read Dreher’s whole piece and he doesn’t even use the term “groomer” or “Anti-Groomer Bill.” He probably didn’t even write the headline. So watch out, everyone … right-wingers are starting to call “Don’t Say Gay” by another fake name.

And yet they will die on this hill. They’ve fully committed themselves to the position that sexual orientation and gender identity should be taught as early as kindergarten, and they’re going to stick with it right through the midterms.
