Mid-level Biden administration staffers also duck out of answering questions at a press conference

According to PBS, White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan were to hold a news briefing Monday at 3:30. Someone by the side of the room told the assembled press that they had a 4:15 and had to go, but just send them any questions they had. One question at hand that was shouted out by a couple of reporters: “Where’s Jake Sullivan? What happened to Jake Sullivan?” The staffers ducked out of the room at that point.
