Brooklyn Nets announce Kyrie Irving is banned from playing and practice until he's vaccinated

In a statement released Tuesday, the Brooklyn Nets announced that point guard Kyrie Irving “has made a personal choice, and we respect his individual right to choose.” They respect his right to choose not to be vaccinated so much that he’s banned from games and practices until he changes his mind. “Currently the choice restricts his ability to be a full-time member of the team, and we will not permit any member of our team to participate with part-time availability.”

The New York Post reports that New York City’s vaccine mandate means Irving wouldn’t be able to play home games at Barclays Center, making him a part-time member of the team.
