Paper that endorsed Elizabeth Warren asks how a prominent academic who faked Cherokee ancestry continued to thrive in her career

It almost as if we’ve heard this story somewhere before, but we can’t quite place it. According to the New York Times Magazine, Andrea Smith, a prominent academic, was found to have faked her Cherokee ancestry even after calling out white feminists for co-opting her Native culture. She’s been exposed, but still, her career in academia continues to thrive — how is that possible?
