We’re hearing a lot about “vaccine passports,” and just the other night on CNN, Dr. Leana Wen fretted that the window to incentivize people to get the coronavirus vaccine was narrowing because states like Texas and Mississippi were already opening up. “If everything is reopened, what’s the carrot going to be?” she asked. In other words, the government needed to repress people’s freedom to encourage them to vaccinate.
Larry the Cable Guy says he was just looking for the forecast when the Weather Channel reminded him to safeguard his COVID-19 vaccination card: that card “could be your ticket to freedom.”

If the vaccines work as they say, the vaccinated have nothing to worry about being around the unvaccinated. The unvaccinated made a choice to risk it. I decided to get the shot. By now, most of the high risk people have been vaccinated if they chose to. Open things back up.

Calling it “your ticket to freedom” acknowledges that your freedoms have been taken away. And the CDC is still saying you have to wear a mask and socially distance even if you’ve been vaccinated.
