A family in Baltimore County received a surprise visit from the police after their fifth-grader’s BB gun showed up on the boy’s webcam during a virtual classroom session. The boy’s mother says the school principal “initially compared bringing a weapon to a virtual class to bringing a gun to school.” Cops searched the house for 20 minutes, found nothing wrong, and left.
INSANE: School safety officer notified when boy's BB gun is spotted on his wall through his Web cam while he's attending VIRTUAL school. Principal equates the electronic depiction of the boy's bedroom wall w/ bringing a weapon to school. Cops search house.https://t.co/PRhuQha3TE pic.twitter.com/HZTNd3zoUD

When we lived in MD my 4 year old was scolded for using the bow and arrow gesture at preschool. The teacher told us we need to teach him not to use violent gestures at school.

Maryland… Imagine that. The same state as the pop-tart gun.

It's Baltimore, so not a big surprise. Sane people need to get the hell out of places like this.

They should just put up a fence with a sign that says Autonomous zone.

I do hope the mother sues the school district. Guess cops have plenty of time on their hands now that they aren’t allowed to arrest real criminals.

They didn’t have one. She consented to the search.

Don’t let the police in without a warrant. Don’t even talk to them.

That’s a good question for which we don’t have an answer.
