This is one of those situations where we’re not trying to encourage the pile-on of a Twitter rando — but then we found out this Twitter rando is actually deputy director of rapid response for Media Matters for America.
Remember how earlier Saturday Touré said there’s no lefty bubble because the “experts” always support liberal policies? This guy might be one of Touré’s experts on guns.
Tucker Carlson doesn't seem to understand that the "AR" in AR-15 stands for "Assault Rifle" pic.twitter.com/EwrE6BDqpw
— Andrew Lawrence (@ndrew_lawrence) July 13, 2019
That's because it doesn't
— Jacob Perry (@RealJacobPerry) July 13, 2019
yes it does
— Andrew Lawrence (@ndrew_lawrence) July 13, 2019
That’s pretty compelling, but we need a little more.
just spoke with a troop who confirmed that indeed, the "AR" stands for "Assault Rifle"
— Andrew Lawrence (@ndrew_lawrence) July 13, 2019
This only confirms that not only you are an idiot, but the people you know are idiots also. AR in AR-15 stands for ARmalite. The AR-5 for instance was a bolt action rifle.https://t.co/O4kzGvyKbO
— Helot (@Helot_) July 13, 2019
nope im sorry it stands for "Assault Rifle" I just spoke with a troop who confirmed this to me. furthermore the 15 stands for the 15th gun invented (also confirmed by a troop) so the AR-5 was the 5th gun invented. check your facts
— Andrew Lawrence (@ndrew_lawrence) July 13, 2019
Where are the media fact-checkers when you need them?

— Justin (@dshnitzkie) July 13, 2019
You’re hilariously wrong.
— Jason Wittenmyer (@michiganbucknut) July 13, 2019
Do Liberals understand what "facts" are? Maybe we need to back up and start with the basics with them.
— Kurt Trinter (@torchsnowflakes) July 13, 2019
Perhaps you should stick to topics you know something about. Public humiliation leaps to mind…

— Keone Malama (@KeoneMalama) July 13, 2019
Face it, you’ve screwed the pooch on this one. I’m willing to bet the “troop” you spoke to also volunteered to take you snipe hunting. You really should go. You’d be great at it!
— Memoe07 (@Memoe071) July 13, 2019
“AR” in “AR-15” rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. “AR” does NOT stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle.” AR-15-style rifles are NOT “assault weapons” or “assault rifles.” An assault rifle is fully automatic, a machine gun.
— RichardLandrauJr (@LandrauJr) July 13, 2019
Wait… is this an AOC burner account?
— d$ (@davedollar) July 13, 2019
The "Troop" who confirmed all these AR-15 facts for you right now is having a beer with his buds saying, "And then I told him what the 15 stood for!"
— Mike Haught (@mwhaught) July 13, 2019
I can’t believe this site is free.
— Chase Helderman (@chase_helderman) July 13, 2019
I know a troop, he said your troop couldn't be a troop because no troop would be so wrong!
— Mike Brundidge (@MikeFlyCX) July 13, 2019
Sounds like you spoke to a “troop” with a wicked sense of humour. ???
— Wayne (@info_pernice) July 13, 2019
The rare quadruple down of utter stupidity. Congratulations sir.
— Jayce Alvarado (@tjspartan04) July 13, 2019
Glad you consulted the barracks legal counsel, who is usually wrong about everything
— Rhyno (@rhynocerous11) July 13, 2019
The 5th gun invented lol sounds like this "troop" was messing with you hard.
— Anthony (@cheezeus) July 13, 2019
Funny, when I was in the service I was issued a M16, we never used the civilian AR-15 as it was a semi-auto rifle. The M-16 actually has safety, semi-auto, and full auto. Although it was along time ago for me, the M4 may be safety, semi, and 3 round burst.
— cheering4three (@3coach_cheer) July 13, 2019
The AR stands for Armalite Rifle model 15. It was designed by Eugene Stoner as a lighter version of the AR-10. Armalie sold the AR10 & AR15 to Colt. Colt did some redesign and sold the rifle to the US Government as the M16.
— Oemy (@oemtechMMF) July 13, 2019
The AR15 civilian rifle cannot fire in a fully automatic capability, the "Military rifle" has a selector switch which allows you single fire, 1 trigger pull, 1 round or full auto, 1 trigger pull many rounds, but these are Military use only, as automatic weapons are banned in US
— RichardLandrauJr (@LandrauJr) July 13, 2019
They aren’t banned, but heavily restricted…and very expensive.
— ElPeon (@ElPeon3) July 13, 2019
Oh so that means the AK-47 must be the “assault killer” and the 47th gun invented. It’s all so clear now.
— Caleb Wallace (@crwally_512) July 13, 2019
No the 15 means it kills 15 children per millisecond. #facts

— Bill Stein (@BillStein_94) July 13, 2019
I'm a troop. You're wrong.
— Cphil (@cheelups11) July 13, 2019
Considering there is no such thing as an assault rifle, no company or person would use those initials in naming a weapon to mean "assault rifle".
— Cafe Racer (@Trading4s) July 13, 2019
This is not helping the discussion
— Mary Jordan (@Mjnanny) July 13, 2019
I'm a Marine. I'd confirm it as such, just so you can come here and do exactly this. Hit me up if you ever need some flight line, or the keys to a HMMWV.
