It’s stunning how many people are suddenly deeply disturbed by the idea of people in power using the intelligence community to attack their political enemies, especially now that Attorney General Bill Barr has asked John Durham to examine the origins of the Russian collusion investigation.
Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress, seemed to have just awakened from a long nap to the news that investigators are going to try to find out who got the gears running trying to delegitimize President Trump’s election — note the scare quotes she uses around the word “president.” We thought the real danger to democracy was refusing to accept the results of an election.
Or maybe “president” was shorthand for former President Barack Obama.
