We love to dunk on CNN’s Chris Cillizza, and he makes it so easy, but we were almost rooting for him Monday after he posted his latest bit of serious political analysis: matching the 2020 Democratic candidates with “Game of Thrones” characters.
As Twitchy reported, Obama bro Ben Rhodes wasn’t amused by Cillizza’s piece, complaining that it was the media covering politics as entertainment that led to President Trump’s election in 2016.
Reminder that Trump could never have been elected President without a news media that covers politics as entertainment https://t.co/MI4N5zktYO

Plenty of people lined up to remind Rhodes that his boss’s two terms wouldn’t have been possible without the media treating the whole Barack Obama administration as entertainment, and they’re still lining up to set him straight.
He has got to be trolling us.

When a president decides to act a like celebrity reality TV star for 8 years, suddenly it opens the door for a celebrity reality TV star who thinks he can be president. Take your medicine. https://t.co/9ePURA5BPp

Something, something, slow-jamming the news…
— Richard DeCamp (@richdecamp) May 13, 2019
I am sorry, I can't understand Rhodes's point unless it's delivered in the slow-jam format. He's going to have to revise and resubmit.

He’s the guy who laughingly said the press is a bunch of 27 year old kids who will believe anything you tell them. Suddenly he wants a serious, thoughtful media.

… not that it makes Cillizza’s piece any less insipid.
