In a story published in The New York Times a week ago, 2020 candidate and millionaire bestselling author Bernie Sanders said we’d be seeing 10 years of tax returns sometime before April 15. “We wanted to release 10 years of tax returns. April 15, 2019, will be the 10th year, so I think you will see them.”

Just like a politician to say, “I think you will see them.” Maybe Sanders is releasing them later Monday, or maybe he just forgot — but a lot of people didn’t.
Wasn’t Bernie Sanders supposed to finally release his tax returns today?

Have I missed the Bernie Sanders tax returns?
— Niels Lesniewski (@nielslesniewski) April 15, 2019
Nope. https://t.co/7fDnKfMDQr
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) April 15, 2019
I was just wondering the same thing!
— Laura Renshaw (@rubycasino) April 15, 2019
I thought I remembered someone saying he would release them to coincide with his Fox appearance tonight.
— Daniel Foskett (@DanielP54104702) April 15, 2019
It would be cool if he released them before his Fox News appearance so he could discuss them. It’s already after 5 p.m. and he knows Fox News is going to ask, right?
He said April 15. But he didn't say April 15 of what year.
— Christopher Lo (@christopherlo20) April 15, 2019
Probably trying to retroactively make charitable contributions and divorce Jane so nobody can figure out how much money at $27 a pop he funneled in her direction. @BernieSanders The 15th of April is upon you.
— (((YidKid))) (@thediggle) April 15, 2019
He’s so afraid for everyone to find out that he’s the 1% and the little amount he actually pays
— Jason Pliske (@bigred10125) April 15, 2019
No. He probably won’t release jack
— ???? (@clfunez) April 15, 2019
Nope! Taking bets on whether we'll see those returns before the heat death of the universe.
— Bernie's Tax Returns are a Cop?? (@pavanvan) April 15, 2019
I wouldn’t take that bet
— Emily S. (@ember00021) April 15, 2019
I think Sanders waited long enough so he could say he released the last 10 years of returns … and exclude 2008.
— R0samond ? (@R0samond) April 15, 2019
Well considering that the 2008 tax returns are the ones with the $50m double-dealing with his wife, I'm not sure I care.
— Baja Blessed (@Seansworth) April 15, 2019
Maybe the printer was out of toner
— brian mulligan (@lovedog7) April 15, 2019
Wait. He was serious…?
— FeelHood ? (@FeelHood) April 15, 2019
I'll eat my hat if Bernie actually releases his tax returns. He's got as many excuses as Trump for hiding them.
— Sandy Tomich ?? (@SandyTomich) April 15, 2019
John Cooper of The Democratic Coalition seems to think Sanders was serious and will come through:
When Bernie Sanders releases his tax returns today, what do you think his net worth will turn out to be?
— Jon Cooper (@joncoopertweets) April 15, 2019
I still have doubts he will release his taxes
— Elizabeth Wingett (@lizzyabw) April 15, 2019
Are you kidding me? He will not release his tax returns…
— Karen and Karen (@KKsHacienda) April 15, 2019
Trick question. Bernie won’t release his taxes today.
— Jada Lee (@LoveJadaLee) April 15, 2019
I don't care about his net worth. I care about his sources of income, and whether he has honestly paid his fair share of taxes like I do.
— spaniel (@anotherspaniel) April 15, 2019
And of course, it’s up to socialist Sanders to tell us all what his “fair share” should be.

Update:
Sanders kept the press waiting until after 5 p.m., be he came through with the returns:
