CNN released a photo of the “bomb” sent to the Time-Warner Center in Manhattan, and there were plenty of questions. Why was it stamped but then apparently delivered via courier? Was that an ISIS flag painted on it?
Glenn Beck had similar questions:

Navy veteran and former bomb disposal officer Tom Sauer weighed in with his expertise and thinks these bombs are not much more sophisticated than Clock Boy’s “cool clock.”

A few observations from a former bomb disposal officer (i.e. Me):
1. Proper pipe bombs don't have wires connected to both ends. That's dumb.

2. You can find timers / remote control receivers WAY smaller than whatever that white box is. A proper timer would best be stored inside the pipe, making it fully encapsulated. That thing is just silly looking.

4. "Hoax Devices" are FAR more common than real ones. In which case, we should ask ourselves what the motives of the "bomber" are and "who benefits?"

My thought is, we either have the BEST bomb detection in the universe, or, more likely, not a single one of them was actually intended to detonate. The more that show up, the higher the likelihood becomes.

Tom – there were 4 bombs, one was 2 blocks from our office in Columbus circle. Most likely not mail delivered, and if they were a hoax – they were most likely test runs

These are interesting points, and you can certainly count me as suspicious, but I believe one of the police agencies described one of the bombs as "functioning," which would suggest it wasn't a hoax.
