Kirsten Powers to Sen. Susan Collins: That was no circus, that was women protesting

If you watched the Senate’s confirmation vote on Brett Kavanaugh Saturday afternoon, surely you heard the relentless screaming of protesters being pulled from the gallery as they tried to stop the roll-call vote — and what’s scary is how many women on social media are admitting that they were screaming too: at home, in the car, wherever.

Frankly, we’d call the whole confirmation process after Sen. Dianne Feinstein chucked that Hail Mary a circus, but Kirsten Powers was here Friday to remind Sen. Susan Collins and the rest of us that that so-called circus was women protesting.

Just so nobody is confused here—the “circus” Collins and her conservative allies are complaining about are women protesting. This is what offends their sensibilities.

It is a “circus” to withhold an allegation until just enough time to destroy and humiliate two people (and their families) and then tsk tsk that the matter hasn’t been investigated sufficiently.

@KirstenPowers Senator Susan Collins is the real hero of the #metoo movement. Her courage to give that speech and vote after what her and her staff have had to go through was vile. Screaming at people in hallways serves no purpose. She will not be intimidated.

@KirstenPowers My sensibilities are offended by "women protesting" as you call it or shrieking, harassing, threatening to confront other women wherever they go. Peaceful protesting is our right but this is more like mob rule.

What happened to @KirstenPowers ? She used to be reasonable? I always appreciated her point of view though I mostly disagreed. She has lost any sense of fairness she once had.
