The Weekly Standard’s still considered a conservative outlet, isn’t it? Sort of? We know that Bill Kristol, head of the #NeverTrump movement, is just an editor-at-large at this point, but still.
Anyway, to get where we’re going, we need to back up to this tweet from Sunday from Mark Hemingway, senior writer at the Weekly Standard.
I've been in DC nearly 20 years, since not long after college, and I didn't exactly start out a choir boy.
However, in that time, I've been around many anti-Kavanaugh crusaders you're reading now in real life, and the hypocrisy of their sudden puritanical zeal is disgusting.
— Mark Hemingway (@Heminator) October 1, 2018
Kirstin Powers wasn’t about to let that stand Monday:
Literally nobody cares that Kavanagh drank too much in high school or college. What people care about is the repeated and obviously lying about it under oath which makes it hard to believe anything else he says. https://t.co/0aDVYJgvUG

Here’s Jonathan Last, digital editor of the Weekly Standard.
[Looks around]
I'm standing right here? One of the reasons I never drank in HS is that I was terrified that I'd get caught it would go on my record and I wouldn't get into med school.
If someone from the future had shown me my orgo grades, I would have had a lot more fun in HS. https://t.co/mESMpvAJok

But my dear you are not an “anti Kavanagh crusader” which is what Mark referred to. Also he’s talking about people who drank a lot when they were younger sitting in judgment thus being hypocrites. Obviously also not you.

I might be, kind of? I dunno. I think America would be better off if he withdrew his nomination and acknowledged that the well has been poisoned to such an extent that the SCOTUS will be stronger as an institution without him.
— Jonathan V. Last (@JVLast) October 1, 2018
So, the Supreme Court will emerge stronger if we let the Democrats get their way, by any means necessary? That’s a no from us.
No fucking way.
— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) October 1, 2018
Good lord, imagine calling yourself a conservative and seeking approval from Kristen while celebrating a character assassination.
— FFS (@BamaLeprechaun) October 1, 2018
No, it will be better, as then it will be more conservative and not so corrupt. Why would we not want Brett on the SCOTUS? He is the best there is.
— Richard Mahn (@richard_mahn) October 1, 2018
The Democrats poisoned the well with this crap. He MUST clear his name. To leave now is to have his life and career ruined by an unprovable charge from more than three decades ago. It’s disgusting…
— ??My Name Is Nobody?? (@Pqlyur1) October 1, 2018
The well was poisoned with lies, smears, deceitfulness and now people like you who say it’s too poisonous, made it that way. That was the ultimate goal from the very beginning. Normal people can see right through that. #IStandWithBrettKavanaugh
— Gretchin (@GretchinTN) October 1, 2018
If he withdrew, his career would be over and his family ruined. Pelosi has announced his impeachment already

Because they will never be satisfied. Ever. Not sure why that's so hard for some people to understand.

If it’s not crystal-clear by now, it never will be.
You can’t reward pure evil.

There's no evidence those women are witches, but they should self-deport and accept responsibility for the damage witch-hunting has done to their community. https://t.co/a6pCIx6Gb6

Like the boy who kills his parents and pleads for mercy because he is an orphan.
— Georgette O (@Orwell_2012) October 1, 2018
I'm with you. It's not like the Dems are going to treat any conservative jurist any better than they've treated Kavanaugh.
— Crftbrlvr (@Klaus_Flauten) October 1, 2018
It’s like we reported: a progressive PAC sent out a press release opposing Kavanaugh but continually referring to him as “she,” they were so certain it was going to be Amy Coney Barrett. It didn’t make any difference who Trump chose — they just needed a name to fill in the blank.
This crap is why you got trump. You washington Republicans keep bending over backwards to appease these crazy liberals and keep stabbing your voters in the back. You and jeff flake can enjoy your cruises while we actually fight for our country
