First several cities in California decided to ban plastic straws, and a new bill proposes to limit what children can drink as well in an effort to combat childhood obesity.
ABC7 Eyewitness News reports that the legislation, introduced by state Sen. Bill Monning, would restrict restaurants to serving only water or unflavored milk with children’s meals. The bill passed the state assembly Thursday.

Don’t you guys have, like, a $68 billion phantom bullet train to build or something? Some used needles to clean off the sidewalks?
They never stop. They WILL NEVER stop. https://t.co/Q1bdFGdMc5

Government is dictating what we can and can’t eat or drink.
— jerZboyMediaUSA (@jerZboyUSA) August 18, 2018
They are obsessed with controlling even the smallest details of our lives, right down to how much milk they would allow us to drink and what kind of straw they would allow us to use.

My God! What ever happened to personal responsibility? Must we regulate every aspect of people’s lives?

The nanny state strikes again! https://t.co/xZfzZJxHSs
— Peter Luk (@peterkluk) August 18, 2018
The Nanny State will decide how you live and what you may eat, & say by force.
This is another good example of Cal slipping into fascism under the name of PC.
“ or by imprisonment in a county jail for a term not exceeding 6 months, or by both that fine and imprisonment.”

Does anyone not see a problem with this much control over our lives?

My beautiful California is becoming a fascist police state.
— Michelle Lorraine (@PureLilac1) August 18, 2018
I understand the intent, but this is senseless overreach.

Which means it’ll probably pass.
I don’t need the government to parent my kids.
— Rikard Rodin (@zevendesign) August 18, 2018
Here we go again, the politicians in my beautiful state think they know better. I get to decide what my kid eat and drinks. Quit legislating our personal freedoms away.

So my skinny kid can't enjoy some F'ing orange juice with her breakfast? Gtfo with that nonsense
— Charles Russo (@CJRIV80) August 18, 2018
I’ll decide what to feed my kid! If I want to award him every once in a while with a happy meal & soda that’s my damn business!
— Clarie (@clarielittle1) August 18, 2018
I would hate this. My healthy kids only ever got milk or water at home, but soda was the big treat when we got to eat out.
— Kate Gordon (@NICURNLC) August 18, 2018
And then the milk will get tossed in the trash as parents order a separate small soda for the kids.
Another great idea from the People's Republic of CA.— J (@CLEmomma) August 18, 2018
And if the kid is lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy his only option is water? And how do the politicians know how often they eat out? Maybe it's just monthly, or only on special occasions, where a treat is not a problem. Government needs to stop parenting!
— Frank's Head (@ftdatl) August 18, 2018
Here we go again. More government. What a waste of time. Most of the health initiatives the the government has put in to place have failed. Time for people to take ownership in their own life. No more government BS initiatives please.
— Anthony Morelli (@coachmorelliPHS) August 18, 2018
CA’s run by too many radical left wingers. No straws, no plastic bags, no plastic forks, no plastic lids, now tell parents what your kids will drink w their meals. Just amazing how people keep voting these looney tunes back in every few years. CA is the definition of insanity
