If you’ve been on Twitter at all today, you’ve probably come across the viral video of ICE detaining a man while he’s driving his wife to the hospital to have a baby. It doesn’t get more heartless than that — abolish ICE, now.

ICE detained a man while he was driving his pregnant wife to the hospital. He was taken when they stopped for gas.
"My husband needs to be here," Maria del Carmen Venegas said. "He had to wait for his son for so long, and someone just took him away."https://t.co/rpD8WKwaJZ

I mean, separating parents and children is sort of an integral part of American history; we've literally been doing it since we colonized the place

You're right, and I am disgusted by that history of our country but to see it in action in 2018, and so flagrantly, without any ounce of compassion for others' humanity, makes me weep for what our country is becoming. Raids, children in cages, parents separated – we must resist!

Yes, that’s a very interesting chat, but none of it gets to the detail that the man driving his wife to the hospital was wanted by law enforcement authorities in Mexico on an outstanding homicide warrant.

You have to read quite a ways into CBS Los Angeles’ coverage to learn that bit, though. Check out this opening sentence:
A newborn is without his father Friday after immigration agents detained the man as he was taking his wife to deliver the baby.
“I feel very bad right now,” Maria del Carmen Venegas told CBS2 News in Spanish as she held her baby boy while still in her hospital gown.
Oh, and a GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for the family, of course. CBS Los Angeles linked to it in its story — we’re gonna pass on that. For what it’s worth, the woman was able to drive herself to the hospital without incident.
This is a great example of why the media has lost credibility. What possible justification can there be for multiple news organization omitting that the person ICE arrested was wanted for murder? pic.twitter.com/dtg2Jo2JsR

There is plenty more. Must just be a coincidence that all these outlets just happened to omit the same critical fact and frame the story the same way, which led to thousands of people being misinformed and getting outraged at ICE for doing their jobs. pic.twitter.com/zUxVm4QBIC

Here is Kyle spreading the same bogus story. Over 8K RT’s. Also managed to omit that the guy was wanted on Murder charges. Apparently ICE should just leave wanted murderers alone if they have pregnant wives. https://t.co/UNZ0WfwHew

Daniel fell for the same story. Over 20K RT’s. All of these people being completely misinformed with a false narrative. https://t.co/bD4UsY2w6q

I can keep going. This lie got all the way around almost every news source before the truth even had a chance. This is why the media’s credibility is so low right now. pic.twitter.com/nINy89lR0p

Seems the only people who don’t know the media’s credibility is in the toilet are the media. They should have some reporters look into it.
