Rep. Keith Ellison announced this week that he’s running for attorney general of Minnesota, and already six candidates have jumped in to replace him in Congress. Among them is intersectional feminist and state Rep. Ilhan Omar, and an old tweet of hers from 2012 that resurfaced this week suggested she might slip easily into Ellison’s role.
Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel. #Gaza #Palestine #Israel
— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) November 16, 2012
If she weren’t a Democrat, a tweet like that might prove … problematic.

Every Democrat running for office should be asked about this. Again and again.

This person is running for congress in the United States as a Democrat. Accusing Jews of "hypnotizing the masses" is an antisemitic trope that dates back hundreds of years and was used by the Nazis.
What is the difference between her and Paul Nehlen or Patrick Little? https://t.co/5K8HENEuiF

Here’s an interesting development:
It is truly an honor to receive Governor Mark Dayton’s endorsement!
"Ilhan will be an outstanding Representative for the people of Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District and a leading voice for change in Washington.” –@GovMarkDayton pic.twitter.com/aP0E3PquYh
— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) June 8, 2018
“I know that she will champion progressive Minnesota values in Congress” — yeah, see, that’s the problem.
