SAD! Drexel U losing that prof who just wanted white genocide for Christmas

Hey, Twitchy faithful! Remember George Ciccariello-Maher? No? He is — was — the Drexel University associate professor who found himself struggling not to vomit at the sight of a uniformed U.S. soldier on his flight:

Oh yeah, he’s also the wit who tweeted, “All I want for Christmas is White Genocide.” He didn’t lose his teaching gig over that tweet, but now Drexel University is losing him.

Oh no! Why? In a lengthy statement, he explains that he’s suffered “nearly a year of harassment by right-wing, white supremacist media outlets and internet mobs.” He also makes it sound as though he personally were the last support beam holding up the entire American university system.

In the past year, the forces of resurgent white supremacy have tasted blood and are howling for more. Given the pressure they will continue to apply, universities must form a common front against the most reprehensible forces in society and refuse to bow to their pressure, intimidation, and threats. Only then will universities stand any chance of survival.

In the face of aggression from the racist Right and impending global catastrophe, we must defend our universities, our students, and ourselves by defending the most vulnerable among us and by making our campuses unsafe spaces for white supremacists.

Defending the most vulnerable among us? For a minute we thought he was going to start protesting Planned Parenthood.
