This was unexpected:

Actress Debra Messing was super-jazzed this April to be participating in the “Tax March” protest intended to pressure President Trump to release his tax returns. Certainly plenty of participants in the march were eager to learn if rich guy Trump had paid his fair share (which, if Rachel Maddow’s big scoop was any indication, he had).
Messing threw Twitter quite a curve Wednesday night, then, when she linked to a piece in The Intercept detailing Steve Bannon’s push for a new 44 percent top marginal tax rate on people who earn more than $5 million a year. The current top rate is 39.6 percent.

It really is. Republicans used to stand for lowering taxes and keeping wealth in the private sector.
I'm confused by this response. https://t.co/C12TY87RBK

I thought rich liberal H'wood types LOVED the idea of tax increases on wealthy people?

There is a zero percent chance that that she realizes Bannon is proposing a tax increase on the rich, and not a tax cut. Zero percent. https://t.co/lHAw4TpGGt

I agree, Debra. 39.6 percent is outrageous, and 44 percent would be even more so. https://t.co/VirAn3MuEo
