Hey, who wants to hear Dr. Jill Stein's thoughts on the Democrats' new party chair?

It took a couple of votes and a last-minute switch from electronic to paper ballots, but the Democrats finally put an end to the search for a new party chair with the election of Tom Perez Saturday afternoon.

Backers of Rep. Keith Ellison were given the consolation of the deputy chairmanship after a few minutes of protesting the outcome, but in the end it was the “establishment” candidate who won over the favorite of progressives.

Both Perez and Ellison made immediate calls for unity in the party, and that gift was granted to them by Green Party presidential candidate and recount enthusiast Jill Stein, who seemed to unite every Democrat in America in the wish that she’d shut up and go away.

Stein’s statement read, in part:

After the blatant corruption of the 2016 election where the DNC sabotaged the Bernie Sanders campaign to clear the way for Hillary Clinton, for party elites to select a Clinton-linked insider demonstrates an arrogant refusal to even acknowledge the problems that have sent the party’s base streaming towards the exits.

It is now clearer than ever that the Democratic Party has learned no lessons from its catastrophic defeat. To build an America that works for all of us, we urgently need to build a progressive alternative that is independent of both parties of war and Wall Street.

She’s not wrong about the party sabotaging Sanders, but she might be a little confused about her own standing with progressives these days.
