'That's a Trump move': Bill de Blasio retreats from the New York Post to his barricaded safe space

For a progressive, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio isn’t shy about imposing his moral views on others. He’s threatened to penalize businesses that fail to address customers by their preferred gender pronouns and encouraged his constituents to follow his lead and not patronize the city’s Chick-fil-A locations.

Now the New York Post is on his enemies list, and it doesn’t look like he’s anxious to offer an olive branch after the “right-wing rag” on Friday featured on its cover the mayor in a high-chair having a temper tantrum.

The Post’s city hall bureau chief on Monday tweeted that the mayor was addressing the media by invitation only.

Ouch. Not that the Post and de Blasio were ever pals, but things really blew up last week when the mayor froze out the Post at a news conference Thursday, when he told Yoav Gonen he could keep calling all he wanted, but he was only going to acknowledge “real media outlets.”

Even the New York Times editorial board called de Blasio’s reaction extreme — where’s his red line when it comes to the press going too far for his comfort?

Maybe NY1’s political director could sneak in a question?

Maybe de Blasio could skip the barriers and hire Melissa “I Need Some Muscle Over Here” Click to enforce his media-free safe space.
