As Twitchy reported, Donald Trump met with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst over the long Independence Day weekend, and although Ernst made no mention of any vice presidential talk during their “good conversation,” she made it clear Wednesday that she won’t be sharing a ticket with Trump in 2016.

Joni Ernst isn't "all but withdrawing" from VP consideration; she wasn't being vetted to begin with.

That does leave Pence as a possibility, but during his rally Wednesday night in Cincinnati, Ohio, Trump sure did spend a lot of time talking up guest Newt Gingrich — not that he’s saying it’s Newt.
Trump: "I'm not saying it's Newt, but if it's Newt, nobody's gonna be beating him in those debates, that's for sure" https://t.co/XXeqJL9PRe

Trump just walked out of Trump Tower with Newt Gingrich. Gingrich will appear with him at Cincinnati rally tonight

As Newt Gingrich mentioned that he was once Speaker of the House, a 20-something guy standing near me said: "He was speaker?"

You could vote this year & be too young to have lived when Newt Gingrich was last in Congress (late 20th century) https://t.co/X2An3UlBP1

On the plus side, a lot of today’s voters are too young to remember when Gingrich did those horrible ads with Rep. Nancy Pelosi, sponsored by Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection, promising to work together across party lines to fight the “climate crisis.”
Crowd in Ohio wants Newt for VP, chants his name.
"Gingrich is going to be involved in our government, that I can tell you," Trump answers.— Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) July 6, 2016
Ohio loved them some Newt.

I've talked to a bunch of Trump supporters in the past few days who have said they favor Newt as VP https://t.co/wC7uRoaMsi
