When news broke that Utah Rep. Mia Love was choosing to skip the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, headlines made note that her name had recently been floated as Donald Trump’s running-mate on the GOP ticket.

The idea that Love was a possible VP pick is being dramatically overplayed. On Friday, former Trump aide Michael Caputo told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade that people “are looking at her,” as well as at Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton.
However, Caputo also mentioned that he hasn’t been in on any vice presidential conversations, and Love herself mentioned last week that she hadn’t been contacted and has no interest in the position in any case.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported Friday that Love intends to focus on her re-election bid in Utah and will give up her delegate slot in part to travel with Rep. Jason Chaffetz to Israel to study methods of fighting terrorism.

At a campaign rally in Tampa, Fla., Trump asked the crowd to suggest their own picks for VP, with Newt Gingrich, Sen. Jeff Sessions, and crowd favorite Condoleezza Rice getting special shout-outs, although Rice indicated afterward that she’ll pass.
Gingrich seems to be one of the select few for whom the interest is mutual. Isn’t there anyone who wants to be Trump’s vice president? Anyone?
