At a press conference, Toronto police chief Mark Saunders said that a man walked into the recruitment center, pulled out a knife and attacked a person behind the counter before attempting to move farther into the building, but was tackled by a group of between six and eight soldiers, one of whom was also stabbed.

Saunders also said the suspect uttered “certain comments” that were of concern but declined to share what those comments were.
