KDVR reports that Officer Lopez might have been unaware that there had been a bank robbery and series of carjackings in the area when he performed what he assumed was a routine traffic stop. Denver Police Chief Robert White said the suspects may have been involved in those crimes as well. White added that one suspect had been shot and taken into custody in fair condition, but there could be as many as two suspects still at large.
