KCBS Radio reporter Doug Sovern was on hand Tuesday at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco to cover an appearance by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson as he discussed various homeland security issues.
Of course, at the top of people’s minds was border security, and Johnson had no problem shutting down the idea of building a wall or deporting millions of illegal aliens.
Sorry @realDonaldTrump, border fence not the answer, says @DHSgov chief in SF: "Show me a 15-foot fence & I will show you a 16-foot ladder."

Most immigrants here illegally have been in US 10+ years, says @DHSgov Secy: "They're not going away." Not feasible to deport them, he says.

Not possible to build border fence atop 10,000 ft mtn in Mexico, says @DHSgov secy Johnson. Anyone motivated to scale mtn won't be deterred.

And so the secretary’s plan to deal with illegal immigration is …? It seems he forgot to bring the plan with him, just like President Obama forgot to reach out to the family of Kate Steinle, who was shot to death by an illegal alien with a criminal record who had previously been deported five times and returned continually to the sanctuary city of San Francisco. It was Steinle’s murder that inspired Donald Trump to make illegal immigration the tentpole of his presidential campaign.
Johnson did make one open-ended plan of action.

Perhaps he shouldn’t bother; the administration’s better suited to all talk.
