As Twitchy reported, the City of Baltimore has by mid-August racked up as many homicides as it had during the entirety of 2014 — a mind-blowing 211. Washington, D.C. has also seen a 35 percent rise in homicides this year. Emily Miller, chief investigative reporter at FOX 5 News in Washington and author of “Emily Gets Her Gun,” learned a surprising fact from Police Chief Cathy Lanier about the recent spike in crimes.
DC police chief Lanier that "illegal firearms" and "high-capacity" magazines cause of homicide spike and shooting today.

@EmilyMiller Wow–the gun and the magazine caused a shooting? No human being did? Now THAT'S a news story!

@EmilyMiller I'm sure it's comforting to not have to back up anything you say with facts.

DC Police Chief Lanier "we need to confiscate the illegal firearms."
(Note- any gun not registered with DC police is illegal.)— Emily Miller (@emilymiller) August 18, 2015
We don’t doubt that guns obtained illegally are used in the majority of crimes, but what’s this about “high capacity” guns?
I asked police chief Lanier how she tracks "high capacity" guns that she says cause of homicides. She couldn't answer.

I guess she didn't have time to prepare a lie ahead of time.— Scott (@sszczy) August 19, 2015
@EmilyMiller Great question Emily! People should back up their assertions with facts! Otherwise they are just making up stuff. Well done!

@butlerwes True, she really doesn't. I got a "Will you let me finish, Emily?!" from her today. I replied, "Yes………. Chief."
