It’s awfully rare for a state’s attorney to achieve celebrity status, let alone basic name recognition. Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has become a bona fide star in the city, though, ever since she emerged to file charges against the six officers implicated in the death of Freddie Gray in police custody.
For example, at his hastily assembled #Rally4Peace concert, Prince invited Mosby and her husband on stage while he played protest song “Baltimore.”
Mosby will again find herself in the spotlight (literally) when the UniverSoul Circus comes to town, where she will serve as guest ringmaster. This appearance isn’t a surprise; Mosby’s featured in the advertisement, which was tweeted from the State’s Attorney’s Office.

We’re not sure how well Mosby will perform as guest ringmaster, but her cracking of the whip on the police has certainly had an effect, with arrests down 50 percent during a record-setting month for homicides.
