Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told Fox News’ Bret Baier Friday that he’ll make an announcement about his future political plans in Hope, Ark., on May 5. Considering that Huckabee walked away from his weekly Fox News program in early January in order to explore the possibility of a 2016 presidential run, his announcement today isn’t much of a tease.

On Fox, Mike Huckabee announces he will announce whether he'll run in Hope, AR on May 5.

@ByronYork OMG.Mike Huckabee might run??? OMG,OMG.Will he or won't he. Is this the reaction he thinks he will generate. Reality: zzzzzz.

@ByronYork @AlexPappas People always give big speeches in their home town to tell you they're *not* running.

Real big announcement. Geez. https://t.co/ovMnsjUItI

Was there a plausible reason why Huckabee would quit his show and not run?

— John McCormack (@McCormackJohn) April 17, 2015

I'd be very surprised if after leaving an on-air job, hiring staff & visiting Early States that #Huck would go to Hope & say no to a 2016 run

Mike Huckabee will announce on May 5 in Hope, Arkansas, whether he will run for president, he tells @BretBaier. (I wonder what will happen!)

Do people have events to say they aren't running? https://t.co/2ncSZ868pl

Announcing at 6 pm on a Friday when you will be announcing for president — but not actually announcing — is just not cool people.

@BuzzFeedAndrew This guy is just a grifter, I'm sorry. What in the heck is he waiting for?

New rule: the candidate with the most announcements gets to be president

— Rebecca Buck (@RebeccaBuck) April 17, 2015

Of course I guess Huck could announce that he's going to start selling reverse mortgages.
