NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s press conference Friday afternoon was reportedly quite the snooze, with the exception of some heckling by Benjy Bronk of “The Howard Stern Show.” The monotonous platitudes didn’t keep CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer from describing the statement as a “dramatic announcement.”
Wolf Blitzer just said that Roger Goodell made a "dramatic announcement" today. Did I miss something?

@ErikWemple @Ourand_SBJ ya you missed the fact no one watches CNN anymore.

@ErikWemple @Ourand_SBJ You apparently missed Blitzer's credibility deterioration over the last several years.

@ErikWemple @HuffPostMedia it was full of drama just zero substance..

God help us if society starts to believe that. RT @JBFlint: "We're like a microcosm of society." NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Things could have been more tedious — the cable networks could have carried President Obama’s speech, delivered at the same time as Goodell’s.
All the networks carried Roger Goodell live. None carried Obama, who was speaking at the same time.

Telling… RT @reidepstein: All the networks carried Roger Goodell live. None carried Obama, who was speaking at the same time.

@calmesnyt @JeffreyGoldberg @reidepstein We've heard Obama's lines over & over. Was a slight chance Goodell might say something newsworthy

@JeffreyGoldberg @calmesnyt @reidepstein Yes, all networks carried Goodell live, none carried Obama…..but Goodell sounded like Obama.

@reidepstein @MercPurdy You could probably take the transcripts and switch "Ray Rice" and "ISIS", and you couldn't tell the difference

Goodell took questions RT @reidepstein: All the networks carried Roger Goodell live. None carried Obama, who was speaking at the same time.

@DavidNakamura fair enough

So what’d we miss today?
Addressing DNC's Women's Leadership Forum, Pres Obama delivered his "cynicism is a choice, hope is a better choice" speech.
