Americans have been rightly impressed by the “amazing contrast” between the statements on the ISIS threat delivered by President Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron. While Cameron has been much more forthright on the threat posed by Islamic extremists, he too has been careful to distinguish between “Islam” and “extremism.”
President Obama confounded and outraged many in his speech to the nation Wednesday by declaring that “ISIL is not ‘Islamic.'” Prime Minister Cameron today, in a statement on the beheading of David Haines, echoed Obama by declaring that ISIS “claim to do this in the name of Islam. That is nonsense. Islam is a religion of peace. They are not Muslims. They are monsters.”

With this sort of talk, it’s sadly becoming more and more difficult to distinguish between Obama and Cameron. Then again, after news of an ISIS beheading, you can generally find one at the golf course.
