Hilary Rosen knows Alec Baldwin's heart (and mouth): 'He's not a homophobe'

CNN’s Jake Tapper put his skills as a journalist to work this afternoon and called out Democrat lobbyist and CNN pundit Hilary Rosen on her somewhat qualified defense of actor Alec Baldwin. Although just about all evidence points elsewhere, Rosen knows Baldwin’s heart and can vouch that, while he does have a big, bad mouth, he’s not a homophobe.

Case closed? Not quite. Although it now looks like Daily Mail reporter George Stark did indeed misread Twitter’s timestamps and falsely accuse Baldwin’s wife of tweeting during James Gandolfini’s funeral, Baldwin in his unhinged rant called Stark a “toxic little queen” and a “bitch” and suggested the reporter would enjoy Baldwin’s boot violently inserted into a certain body cavity — the kind of thing that would be treated as a rape threat if a conservative had said it.

Baldwin’s already doing penance, “reaching out” to GLAAD and explaining that his “ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone’s sexual orientation” and adding, “As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize.”

As long as Rosen — who famously accused mother-of-five Ann Romney of never working a day in her life — has revealed her gift to look into people’s hearts … does that gift work with mirrors?
