What to do? A split screen? Tonight’s the president’s big night, but the possible end of the Christopher Dorner saga has most of the nation’s eyes glued to aerial shots of smoke rising from a cabin in Big Bear. Look, there are charts to prove it.

How about that suspected nuclear explosion that shook the ground in North Korea?

It’s only a half-hour until the president’s speech, but the countdown began this afternoon as soon as news of Dorner’s sighting hit. Howard Kurtz was among the first to wonder how Obama would be affected, but he certainly wasn’t alone.
