Solyndra inventory ends up in UC Berkeley art exhibit

Over 1,000 glass tubes at one time intended to be used in the manufacture of solar panels by Solyndra have found their way into “SOL Grotto,” an art exhibit at the University of California Botanical Garden at Berkeley.

Solyndra, which received a $535 million loan guarantee from the Obama administration, filed for bankruptcy in September 2011. Auctioneers were brought in to sell off assets and inventory but were unable to move the glass tubes, which had little use outside of their intended destination.
