Adam Lambert fans spam American Idol producer in bid for judge's seat

“American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe says he’s heard enough from Adam Lambert fans lobbying for a judge’s slot on the hit TV show. Both Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez announced last week they were quitting the show, leaving Randy Jackson as the sole remaining judge. Mariah Carey is rumored to be close to inking a $17 million deal to join the show.

Fans, not wanting to hurt Lambert’s chances, were conciliatory.

Lythgoe asked fans of Lambert and the show to be “sensible.”

To be honest, 300 tweets doesn’t sound that bad. But the push might not be over just yet.

Update: Lythgoe tweets again to assure fans that their “sanity” (or lack thereof) will not affect the selection process.
