The same fan support which led singer Phillip Phillips to an “American Idol” victory is pushing “Phillip Phillips Gone Gold” up Twitter’s trending topics.

Phillips himself took to Twitter to thank the family of previous “Idol” winner David Cook for their hospitality.

With 278,000 downloads sold in its first week, “Home” breaks the “American Idol” sales record set by Cook, whose song “The Time of My Life” sold 236,000 copies in 2008.
