Ah, people will die. That’s the argument so many transgender activists and allies give for providing gender-affirming care (like double mastectomies) to minors … they’ll inevitably kill themselves if they’re not given puberty blockers and hormones and surgeries. (A study out of Sweden has debunked that claim pretty well.) But that seems to be the way arguments about transgender legislation seem to go: people will die if trans people aren’t given everything they demand. Why, it’s genocide.
