Illinois bill would require every gas station and grocery store in Chicago to have an armed guard

Wait, we’ve been assured that more guns are not the answer. And the myth of the “good guy with a gun” is just that — a myth.

A new Illinois bill, though, called the Armed Security Protection Act, would require banks, gas stations, pawn shops, and grocery stores in municipalities with more than 2 million inhabitants (i.e., Chicago) to have at least one armed security guard on deck during business hours.

Note that “armed guards” are defined in the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004. So, one of those.

The thought of schools having armed guards is just … ridiculous. At least we’ve been told.

What about “magazine-fed assault pistols”?

Does the Illinois legislature think Chicago has a crime problem? Is that what they’re saying?

We remember when President Trump wanted to send in the National Guard to get crime under control in Chicago and Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she wouldn’t have his stormtroopers terrorizing her citizens.

Lightfoot certainly has enough armed guards in her personal security detail — just ask any Chicagoan who pays taxes about the overtime those guys get. Has she weighed in on this legislation yet?
