Sen. Chris Murphy’s latest gun control tweet was inspired by an NBC News report on gun homicides, but followers didn’t take from the piece the same thing that he did — that more guns are making us less safe.
Allowing more guns in more places isn't making us safer. It's doing the opposite. https://t.co/JGtyzNPv7p

You're not "us," you're "them." https://t.co/YAUOfWJqqS

NBC News reports that “the CDC found a 31 percent increase in homicides involving firearms from 2014 to 2016” — so maybe look up Barack Obama and ask him about those numbers.
Just one thing …
The article admits this is a "bare bones" study using only death certificates. Let me help. Most are from suicide thats a mental health problem. The majority of the rest are committed by illegally obtained firearms in democratic controlled cities with high gun control laws. Wtf
— RedinaBluestate (@foxtroting42) August 7, 2018
To make that statement you would have to have information that is not included in stats in this article. What percentage of the homicides are due to people with guns in places they are legally allowed to have them at excluding home and car?
— looney (@C8Luna) August 7, 2018
Guns don't even make the CDC Top Ten list of deaths @ChrisMurphyCT . Now who's spreading lies – NBC News and You. Do the research before you end up looking stupid.
— JR Stephens (@TrustedPI) August 7, 2018
It is clear that you didn't even read the link. Those homicides are not in legal carry areas. Those guns used are illegally used. That means more laws wont change things. #2A
— Jeffrey Peters, PhD (@JPeters_in_MD) August 7, 2018
Show stats for the homocide rates involving law abiding citizens. Why is it the Law Abiding citizens are the first ones taxed, the last ones considered, and the first ones punished. When was the last time a criminal underwent a background check? You sir, are an idiot
— ❌generation X (@GenerationXer17) August 7, 2018
Would you kindly explain how gun crime has consistently declined since the 90’s even though gun ownership has nearly doubled?
— Bored_In_America (@Bored_In_USA) August 7, 2018
What was it Mayor Rahm Emmanuel said about the more than 60 shootings in Chicago over the weekend? “You can talk about the weather, but the weather didn’t pull the trigger. You can talk about jobs, and they count, but in parts of the city where there aren’t jobs, people did not pull the trigger.” People did not pull the trigger? Wha?
Then tell me why are the safest places in our country the ones that have open carry or easily obtained conceal carry. Our most violent cities have the most gun restrictions.
— FedUpInCommiefornia❌ (@TimBuckOhFive) August 7, 2018
You really don't understand correlation/causation, at all. Most of the homicides are in HEAVILY gun-controlled cities, yet the surrounding "easy to get" areas where they (allegedly LOL) obtain them have no such problem. The problem is Democrat-run cities, full of gangs & drugs
— fascism patrol ❌QFD❌shadowbanned (@fascpatrol2000) August 7, 2018
The ONE city named is Baltimore, which is firmly under the control of your political party.
— Robert (@RRangel4JC) August 7, 2018
Take out FIVE DEMOCRATIC-RUN CITIES, and the gun homicide rate is at a record low.
The answer is not banning guns.
The answer is not electing Democrats. https://t.co/i3pw1MyK8t
— Thomas Wictor (@ThomasWictor) August 7, 2018
If they put around 2,000 gang members in Chicago in prison where they belong and where for some strange reason Democratic officials in that city just cannot seem to put them there, the crime rate would plummet.
— STEALTH JEFF (@drawandstrike) August 7, 2018
He wants to come for the guns on law abiding citizens next so they are unable to defend themselves. Tough gun controls in Democrat run places like Chicago has really worked well hasn't it? Now only criminals and gangs have them illegally. How many murders over the weekend there? https://t.co/FQXZXtLA9X
— John M Knox (@johnmknox) August 7, 2018
What’s your excuse for the violence in Chicago with some of the strongest gun laws in the country?
— RedPillRuthie (@connie50407449) August 7, 2018
Chicago. Gun ban city. Ban Democrats, Save lives!
— Daxton Brown (@daxtonbrown) August 7, 2018
Dont forget that Chicago has some of the tightest gun restrictions in the United States…how’s that working out??
— Indy and Proud of It!!! F DNC/RNC robots!! (@jdell27713) August 7, 2018
Tell me more about Detroit and them laws Christopher…
— Ray Liberty (@hsamskluh) August 7, 2018
I disagree. How will tighter gun laws keep CT from becoming another Chicago which already has the tightest restrictions in the country? https://t.co/4u4jdiT1UF
— TRUMPTRUTH (@TRUMPTRUTH8) August 7, 2018
What country do you live in? The stats prove that law abiding citizens make their areas safer. In areas where guns are restricted like Chicago, the criminals still have them and crime increases because there is no deterrent
— Thomas Williams (@tslomawilliams) August 7, 2018
Want to be safer, Chris? Target the people who are killing each other with guns in the metro areas where most of the homicides happen.
— Dark Dachshund (@darkdachshund) August 7, 2018
Funny, I go to the range all the time, visit local FFL all the time, go to gun shows all the time. I have never seen one act of violence ever take place at any of those locations and states with constitutional carry have fewer gun homicides per capita
— White_Hating_Coon (@LockeanLiberal) August 7, 2018
News flash: Guns are already allowed nearly everywhere. What are you talking about? Every time the left cries foul and tries to limit the 2A, more guns are purchased and the NRA fills its coffers. Keep it up left!
— LEFTISTEDUCATOR (@CyrusKump) August 7, 2018
Every time you say something stupid about guns, I buy another one. I have quite the arsenal now.
— The Marquis (@vikingnine) August 7, 2018
This Democrat senator went from attacking 1st amendment rights to attacking 2nd amendment rights in a couple of hours. LOL https://t.co/QNHuYhP88I

Sen. Chris Murphy's thrilled Infowars is being banned, BUT 'companies must do more than take down one website' to save democracy https://t.co/pn8tAMu5Dd
