Historic: Kim Jong Un crosses border into South Korea for summit

We’ll kick this off with a tweet that’s too good to let lie:

In a historic moment, North Korea’s dictator crosses into South Korea for the first time since the end of the Korean War.

But seriously: North Korea’s Kim Jong Un recently crossed the border into South Korea and shook hands with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Whatever does or doesn't come of it, it feels surreal to watch N. Korean dictator walk into S. Korea for summit. #AmazingTimes As you know, they've been at war since 1950 and our troops are stationed in S. Korea. 1/?

Not long ago, former Obama intel officials I trust named N. Korea as the #1 US national security threat. 2/?

As someone who worked at CNN, CBS, etc. I can say that in my estimation if this were happening 5 years ago under Obama, or even under a Bush, this would be getting — and would merit — live primetime coverage. 3/?

I doubt many Americans have been told the significance, the history. I can't say I knew much before I made a point to try to read up… and before my visit there last summer. 4/4

N. and S. Korea have been at war since 1950. N. Korea has been marching toward the capability to nuke the US. But today, for the first time since then, their leaders shook hands, smiled, and began a summit.
