Before the government shutdown, Sen. Chuck Schumer reportedly had offered “well north of the $1.6 billion in wall funding Trump had asked for this year,” according to two Democrats, but on Sunday, Schumer took the wall funding off the table.
Democrats have done their best to spin the shutdown as a win for their party, and they seem pretty jazzed that Schumer is saying no to a border wall. This must be that “potential for momentum” that Debbie Wasserman Schultz was talking about.

That’s great, but … what exactly does she mean by “this”?
Since the beginning, Trump has been crystal clear – Immigration reform begins with border security, including walls. https://t.co/xdzDKpiaRC

Shuts down the government.
Sees to it DACA people will get deported by reneging on a deal he insisted upon.
Both within a span of four days.

Trump should pull his DACA extension, insist on E-verify as a condition of restoring it. https://t.co/J578C12XUq

Not so fast: Resistance leader Scott Dworkin is still insisting the Democrats won the shutdown, big time.
Schumer just took the border wall funding off the table for DACA negotiations. As he should. And like I said, Republicans lost big time. We got CHIP funded, will get community health centers funded & have a deal for DACA by Feb 8 or the Gov’t will shut down until DACA passes.
— Scott Dworkin (@funder) January 23, 2018
So … the Democrats, who took the blame for this shutdown by putting illegals first, are going to do exactly the same thing again? That must be what Dworkin considers winning.
If the government shuts down because Republicans refuse to support DACA the blame will fall in Democrats, which is something the right is all ready pushing. https://t.co/8SUf8YCLOE

The right? Even the lefty New York Times couldn’t ignore that it was Democrats who blocked the funding bill.
A little reality therapy is in order, Scott. Trump created a negotiating lever out of thin air (DACA) and then twisted the Dems in knots. We cannot win anything until we have a clear-eyed appreciation of reality. AND learn how to MESSAGE!!! Why is this sooo hard!#! https://t.co/qn9AK1dYaX

When your messaging doesn’t connect even when amplified by the mainstream media, maybe you don’t have a winning message?
Schumer & Gang are making fools out of themselves. Illegals and mass immigration have gone on long enough. American people want it to stop. We want that wall and Security for our border, we don’t want chain immigration or lottery and DACA. Legal is what want. No amnesty.
