Jon Lovett, Obama bro and host of 'Pod Save America,' wants us to know he really struggled over whether or not to discuss former President Joe Biden's decline.
By 'struggled,' I mean he tried to figure out how to blame the situation on Trump, but he couldn't and then didn't talk about it. At all.

The book ['Original Sin' by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson] details Lovett’s meeting with the former president alongside co-hosts Jon Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer in April of 2024. The narrative recounts the conclusion of the meeting leading the three to believe the leader came across as “incoherent.”
During Thursday’s podcast, Lovett said he didn’t speak on his concerns in hopes of not “having the words we’re saying taken out of context and all of a sudden be part of the case against Joe Biden from the right — that would use any person criticizing Joe Biden from the Left as a weapon against him.”
Lovett met with Joe Biden in April 2024, over two months before the disastrous debate. You know, the debate the Left points to as the moment they realized Biden was unwell. So either Lovett is a time traveler, or he's a liar.
I vote the latter.
After that April meeting, Lovett and the others who sat with the president found him 'incoherent' and said nothing because they feared the truth would harm Biden's reelection chances.
In the article, Lovett admits he wanted Biden to win regardless of his cognitive state. Because Trump, of course. So Lovett chose, knowingly, to push for the reelection of a mentally unwell man simply because he has a (D) after his name. And to protect themselves from the blowback, they're playing the victim.
He 'struggled' not to talk about it.

Not one person -- not Jake Tapper, not Alex Thompson, not Jon Lovett -- struggled with the decision to discuss Biden's health. They chose not to discuss it because they wanted Biden to win reelection. And we all know why: because they hated Donald Trump more than they loved doing their jobs as so-called journalists. They proved it time and again by the repeated negative coverage of Trump.
Just days after lambasting Lara Trump for 'mocking Joe Biden's stutter' and saying she was not a doctor, Jake Tapper had another not-a-doctor on his program to discuss Donald Trump's cognitive decline. Every single Democrat and journalist attacked Robert Hur as not-a-doctor when he released his report that found Joe Biden so cognitively unwell it was unlikely Biden knew keeping classified docs was against the law.
Once again, Lovett—like the rest of the media—is proving he is not a journalist but an historian (and a terrible one at that) by discussing a story after the fact.
In some ways, this makes sense: for the Left, history began yesterday and ends tomorrow. They are so focused on instant gratification and making political wins right now that they don't look at or consider the long-term implications of their actions.
Above all, they're driven by their rabid need to fight Donald Trump at every turn, even when it ends up harming them and their cause in the long run.
Now that they face a reckoning for this malfeasance, they try to play the victim card.
And no one's buying that, either. Because -- unlike the Left -- we remember exactly how this unfolded and who is to blame.
