Fake News Hangover

Twitter

Trust in American media is at its lowest point in five decades. In a February Gallup poll, only 31% of respondents trust media a 'great deal or a fair amount.' The remaining 69% have little or no trust at all in the media.

This is entirely self-inflicted, and this non-apology retracting from MSNBC is example #8,536,294 of why:

Two days ago, former FBI counterintelligence official Frank Figliuzzi went on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' and said Kash Patel is 'an anomaly' at the J. Edgar Hoover Building in D.C.

Here's how the Daily Beast covered the story:

He has however been spotted elsewhere, according to Figliuzzi, who was appointed as assistant director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division by Robert Mueller in 2011.

“Reportedly, he’s been visible at nightclubs far more than he has been on the seventh floor of the Hoover building,” Figliuzzi told Morning Joe co-host Jonathan Lemaire.

“And there are reports that daily briefings to him have been changed from every day to maybe twice weekly.”

Figliuzzi added that the lesser-spotted Patel has been splitting his time between D.C. and his home in Las Vegas.

And here's video of Figliuzzi's comments:

While the video clip cuts off, but I doubt Lemaire pushed for actual evidence. So -- once again -- we get near-anonymous sources leaking stories to the media about chaos in the Administration.

The fact that MSNBC had to issue a correction to that story tells me everything I need to know about it.

There was a time when journalists cared about getting the story right, checking their facts, and tying up the loose ends before running with a report.

Today, the driving factor behind the media narrative is: ORANGE MAN BAD, and so is anyone even remotely associated with President Trump.

Two weeks ago, the media were angry that Kash Patel was going after Trump's political opponents, most recently Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan. Two days ago, Patel was partying it up.

So which is it?

Is Kash Patel an arm of the tyrannical Trump administration or is he bar hopping in Georgetown?

Pick. One.

But they won't, because the media have decided ethics and integrity don't matter. They are the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, and everything they do is in service to those masters.

Couple this with how they're absolutely covering themselves in glory as they scramble to cover their behinds for intentionally ignoring Joe Biden's cognitive decline, and every single outlet deserves to go the way of the dodo bird.

Extinct.

And when they do, I'll join Patel at the nightclubs to celebrate. The first round will be on me.
